Rivers To Host 2013 PASAN Games

The National Executive Council (NEC) of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has approved Rivers State to host the 3rd Edition of the PASAN Games early next year.

The chairman of the association in Rivers State, Comrade Louis Okeleke disclosed this shortly after he returned from the NEC meeting of the association in Ilorin, Kwara State, over the weekend.

According to him, the approval was one of the resolutions reached at the end of the NEC meeting.

“I want to state that the Natioanl Executive Council of PASAN unanimously approved the hosting and sponsorship right of the 3rd edition of the PASAN games to the Rivers State Government.

He also stated that a three-man Central Co-ordinating Committee, headed by Comrade B. A Ogunro, has been set up to ensure smooth hosting of the game in the state.

Okeleke further said that the approval was granted to the state due to the quality of sporting facilities on ground in the state.

It would be recalled that a team of delegation from the association visited Rivers State to inspect sporting facilities on ground.

Consequently, the delegation scored the facilities high and approved the hosting right to the state.

Comrade Okeleke also stated that the NEC passed a vote of confidence on the National President of the association, Comrade Fatai Jimoh, because of his leadership iniatives, in sports programmes.

He has pledged that the state chapter of PASAN would work effectively towards the successful osting of the game come 2013.

The chairman used the opportunity to commend the governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Amachree for the efforts to secure the hosting right.
