Rivers Angels Victory Excites Coach

Coach of Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt, Edwin Okon has expressed satisfaction over the 2012 Confederation Cup victory.

Okon stated this shortly after the defending champions, Rivers Angels won the cup back to back for 2011 and 2012 edition of the challenge cup at the weekend in Abuja.

The defending champions won the 2012 season after a goalless draw resulting in a penalty shootout against Inneh Queens of Benin which ended in 5-4 in favour of the Angels.

While the Sunshine Queens of Akure took the third place after a goalless draw with Akwa Ibom Queens 4-0 victory in a penalty shoot out.

Earlier, Coach of Inneh Queens of Benin, Kenneth Aigbe has said that his team had shown commitment, adding that the team would be back in the 2013 season to win the Confederation Cup.

He explained that although the girls lost in the finals, they did their best, saying that the team got to the quarter final last season, but were able to reach the final this season.

“This shows that they are improring in each season and might lift the  trophy in the next season.

“We will go back to the drawing board and work harder for the next season because I know we are coming back to take the trophy,” he said.

He however, stressed the need for female football to be encouraged by giving incentives to the players.
