RETEAN Urges FG To Wade Into Crisis
The National Leadership of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RETEAN) has appealed to the Federal Government to intervene into the union crisis with a view of resolving the factional crisis bedeviling the association.
The Union’s National President Alhaji Abubakar Sadig stated this in a statement issued recently and made available to The Tide.
Comrade Sadig said a faction of the Union broke away from the Union mainstream in 2007 thereby plunging the association into protracted factional crisis.
He said “there should be quick intervention by the government to resolve this endless crisis in the interest of harmonious labour togetherness”.
Comrade Sadig said the crisis had deprived the association from benefiting from the allocation of buses under the federal Government’s subsidy re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE – P).
The Union President said resolving the union Leadership crisis will facilitate understanding and cooperation with the relevant government agencies to alleviate the suffering of the masses through the provision of efficient services to the people.
He commended the federal government for the provision of the SURE-P buses to assist Nigerians.
