NFF Ratifies NPL Board’s Sack … Heartland FC Wins Charity Cup
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has sealed the fate of ex-Nigeria Premier
League board, NPL Chairman, Rumson Baribote, who was sacked alongside his board
members by the NPL Congress on Tuesday.
The
NFF rising from its 68th Annual
General Assembly, AGA in Port Harcourt yesterday approved the decision of the
NPL’s Congress.
Part
of the AGA’s communiqué signed by the Communiqué Drafting Committee Chairman,
Chidi Ofo Okenwa stated, “The Assembly also approved that the NFF Executive
Committee receive the NPL and subsequently set up a League Management Committee
to supervise the affairs of the league for the 2012/2013 league season, pending
the conduct of fresh elections. It also approved that the 2012/2013 Premier
League Season commences in January, 2013”.
The
Assembly also ratified the decisions of the NFF executive on the NPL endorsing
the lifting of suspension of Mr. Akin Akingboola, the conversion of expulsion
of Ocean Boys FC of Brass from the Premier League to demotion to the immediate
lower league.
The
Nigeria Women’s Coaches Association were directed to hold their congresses
within the next 90 days.
Rivers
State governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi, as well as the government and people
of Rivers State were praised by the General Assembly for hosting an impeccable
68th Annual General Assembly of the NFF.
Congress
equally commended the efforts of the NFF’s Executive Committee and Management
of the Federation and unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the leadership
of the body.
Meanwhile,
in the Charity Cup Match played yesterday at the Sharks FC’s stadium as part of
activities marking the 68th AGA,
Federation Cup Winners defeated premier league champion, Kano Pillars FC 2-0 to
emerge champion of champions.

Akuoka scored the first goal in the 35th minute while
John Owoeri made it two in the 60th minute.
