Mrs Okorocha Tasks Children On Patriotism
The wife of the Imo State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Okorocha, has urged children in the state to be patriotic by praying for the state and country to be better.
Speaking at the Imo Children’s Christmas party in Owerri on Monday, Okorocha charged the children to form the habit of praying both for the country and state as they celebrated Christmas.
“You must continue to pray for the governments, parents and even hand your lives to God so that at the end, you will be able to fulfill your destiny.Always form the habit of waking up every morning to pray,” she admonished the children.
Okorocha said the programme was organised for the children to feel the joy and light ofthe
season, adding that they were wonderful and were the leaders of the future.
“We have a lot of package for you today. Every child here must go home with something as we celebrate Christmas. God bless you and I love you,” she said.
In a sermon, a child from the Christian Evangelical Mission, Owerri, Master Donald Kelvin, said
Jesus Christ was the reason for the season.
He said Jesus was the King of kings, Lord of lords and victorious in battle, adding that He would come soon to take the saints to heaven.
“He is the uncreated creator ofthe whole universe, all bow down at the mention of His name,
including the devil,” he said.
The party, organised by the office of the governor’s wife and the state’s ministry of women affairs, had the theme “Rescue Santa Goes to School”.
It featured drama about the birth of Jesus, calisthenics, fancy dress show and cultural dances, among others.
