The late former National Security Adviser, Gen. Owoeye Azazi, who died in a helicopter crash in Bayelsa on December 15, will be given a “befitting state burial”, tomorrow, according to the burial programme released by the state government on Wednesday in Yenagoa and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson.

Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa described the late Azazi, as an Ijaw hero, who died in the service of his fatherland. “The late Gen. Azazi will be given a befitting state burial, in recognition of his enviable record of service to the state and the country,” Dickson said.

According to the burial programme, a service of songs will hold for late Azazi at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 28, at the Peace Park, in Yenagoa, while a commendation service would hold at 9.00am on Saturday, December 29, at the Peace Park, in Yenagoa, before his final interment.

The statement quotes Dickson as saying that late General Azazi’s remains would be laid to rest at the Ijaw National Heroes Park in Yenagoa.

The statement said that this was in view of his remarkable contributions to Bayelsa and Nigeria as a whole.

“This is to clearly demonstrate our respect and high regards for Gen. Owoye Azazi, as a true hero of the Ijaw nation,” Dickson said.
