The Archbishop, and Province of Niger Delta, Most Rev Ignatius .C. O. Kattey, has charged Nigerians
to leave good legacies that would be a signpost for quality service towards
promoting national development.

The
Archbishop gave the charge while preaching a sermon at the
Centenary/Anniversary Celebration thanksgiving service of St Patrick’s (Ang)
Church, Rukpokwu in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State.

Archbishop
Kattey who is also the Bishop, in the Diocese of Niger Delta North, said the
soul of building a better society lied in laying good legacy that would
motivate others to live on and contribute meaningfully towards building a
better society.

The
international evangelist reminded the people that the path to greater height is
full of challenges and advised those who want to make history to be focused and
not to give up in the face of such challenges.

He
praised the founder of Anglican Church in Rukpokwu in 1912, Anyalebedri Mark
Amadi for bequeathing to the people a history of Christian faith and urged the
succeeding generations to thrive to sustain the growth of the gospel in the
area.

He
remarked that those who invest in the things of God are prone to reaping good
deeds and God’s favour, and enjoined all and sundry to remain as the instrument
of building the church to attract God’s blessings.

He also
spoke of the need to always give thanks to God at all times, adding that such
gesture represents stepping stone for getting more favour from God.

In his
address at the Occasion, the Chairman, Centenary Planning Committee, Sir Sam
Eleonu said the advent and growth of Anglican Church on Rukpokwu land was not
an accident of history, but a necessity of divine arrangement.

Looking
at the inception of the church in 1912 to its present stage, Eleonu said there
was every reason to praise God and celebrate for the remarkable transformation
recorded in course of the history.

“We may
have had our past, but our present and future on transformation map matter
most,” he said, and commended all men and women who at one stage or the other
in the church’s journey to 2012 promoted spiritual and physical growth.

According
to him, 100 years of the church has opened a new dawn with tremendous
challenges, and solicited for prayers and support in the years ahead.

He also
acknowledged what God is using the Archbishop and wife to do in the annals of
churches and evangelism, and prayed that God should continue to give them the
grace and fresh anointing to take the Province/Diocese to the next level.
