Govt, Labour Partners In Progress – Amaechi
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has commended labour in Rivers State for the support they have given to his administration.
Speaking at the 5th anniversary and thanksgiving service of Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Chief Chris Oruge at St Georges Anglican Church, yesterday, at Oduoha in Emohua Local Government Area, Amaechi said labour shown immense support to the success of the present administration.
Said he, “labour in Rivers State has been very very supportive and I thank them for their support.”
The governor used the church service to thank God for the life of Chief Oruge after his illness earlier this year, noting that showing appreciation to God attracts more blessings.
He lauded the labour chief and prayed God to add more to his life.
Amaechi also urged labour leaders and Nigerians in general to use this season to demonstrate love to one another, “Christmas is a bringer of peace so we should share love to each other”, he stressed.
Earlier in his speech, Chief Oruge stated that the service was aimed at thanking God for sustaining his life after he survived an ailment that struck him earlier in the year.
He disclosed that thanksgiving was shifted to this month due to several engagements while thanking God and Rivers State Government for been at his side during the illness.
Chief Oruge used the service to call for quick completion of the Oduoha -Elibra road and support to the church.
Meanwhile, Governor Amaechi has directed the Commissioner for Works to ensure that the Oduoha road is well constructed and completed in due time.
The Governor remarked that, “this is not the kind of road we envisioned…we would invite the contractor to explain to us what we need to do to the road to make it better”.
Highlights of the church service include unveilment of new public address system and donations for the church new bus to aid evangelism.
