The Goalkeeper Trainer of the National U-17 Men’s team, Emeka Amadi, has said that the team has what it takes to prosper in the 2013 African Youth Championship (AYC) in Morocco.

Amadi made this known to Tidesports in Abuja after the team’s last training session before leaving for Mali for the last qualifying round of the AYC.

The match is the second leg of the last qualifying round for the 2013 AYC in Morocco.

The Eaglets defeated Mali 2-0 in the first leg of the encounter on November 18, at the E.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

“We are definitely going to Mali to make Nigeria proud. We want to qualify and we are working toward achieving that.

“I am sure that this team can conquer Africa and that is what we have set out to achieve.

“We have the quality players that can deliver and the coaching crew are not resting on their oars, so, we have what it takes to conquer Africa,’’ Amadi said.

The goalkeeper trainer added that the Eaglets won’t be deterred by any kind of treatment the Malians might give them.

“We don’t have any problem with the kind of treatment the Malians might want to give us because we are warriors.

“We are ready to spend the night anywhere or face anything but the most important thing is to do what we are going there for, so we are prepared for anything.’’

A central midfielder of the team, Wilfred Ndidi, said the team would not be threatened by its opponents’ size “but will give their best to qualify for the championship.

“Although all the qualifiers we played were on natural grass, it won’t be easy playing on the artificial turf but we will try our best.

“We are not scared of their size or height because it is possible you are big but can’t deliver. Afterall, we played and defeated them in Calabar, so we are not scared, instead, we are ready for them.’’
