Coalition Hails Foundation’s ICT Scholarship For Journalists
The leadership of the Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence (NDCAV), has commended the Emma Anyawu Foundation over the recent Information Communication Technology (ICT) scholarship offered to 13 journalists in the state.
The president of the group, Comrade Christian Lekia, said this while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt Wednesday.
Lekia, noted that the Emma Anyawu’s offer came at the right time when journalists needed to advance their training in the area of ICT.
He said such gesture will place newsmen in the stateed top among their equals, saying that it is a gift for life.
According to him, any offer to journalists is for the whole world, while calling on the beneficiaries to ensure that they put in their best in order to justify the opportunity given them.
He pointed out that continues training of such nature to pressmen will not only enhance their performance, but will also increase their speed and accuracy.
The NDCAV leader, also called on the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) nationwide to create an avenue that will enable journalists in the country participate in international training.
He said training of such standing will place the Nigerian journalists at a better vintage position.
He stressed that since the world is going digital, it will be dangerous for journalists in the country to still battle with analogue application.
It would be recalled that 13 journalists in the state were recently offered scholarship through the Emma Anyawu Foundation to study ICT at the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) in Port Harcourt.
