The Governor’s wife stated that several measures will be put in place to ensure that the children are not infected with preventable diseases especially with the outbreak of cholera in some communities in the area.

She stated that education and constant enlightenment programme were part of measures to mount advocacy to rural communities on health related matters.

“It is unfortunate that there is an outbreak of cholera in some Kula communities, and more hit will be our children, we must put in place several measures to insulate them from being infected.”

Mrs Amaechi, while applauding the partnership with the Kula community, the Local Government Authority, Chevron and the ESI said investment in social sector was another way of breeding a generation of new leaders for the country.

“Akulga has trailed the braze in early child education, few months ago, the Abonnema cluster signed similar MoU for the same purpose, today Kula has taken a cue, it shows the place of education in the mind of your people”.

The founder of ESI further stated that its ECCDE programme also provided jobs for the local people and encouraged adult education and literacy within its area of operation.

“Our activities are rural based and community oriented; from teachers to minders, security and cooks are sourced from within the community and added that the local economy of the people will also be affected positively”.

She stated that the state government was disposed to providing potable water for the citizenry and assured Kula community of her willingness to partner with them in providing a pride of place for the children and the community at large.

At the event were the council chairman, Theodore George, Chairman of Kula Regional Development Committee Hon. Stanley Benibo, Area Manager Chevron Mr Joe Jakpa, traditional rulers and youths among others.
