The Rivers State Government has raised the bar in the organisation of this year’s Port Harcourt CARNIRIV.

The Director-General, Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA), Dr Sam Dede said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt.

Dr Dede said that the introduction of the colloquium and other activities was meant to make this year’s CARNIRIV different from the previous years, noting that this situation has made the state a destination of choice for people from across the state.

He also said that for the first time in the history of carnivals in the country, international Raggae artistes will be performing live in Port Harcourt.

Dede listed the international music and musical stars to include Shaggy, Orits Williki, Rasky Mono, Majek Fashek amongst others.

He emphasised that apart from the tourism aspect of the state which the event is expected to boost, the cultural heritage of the diverse ethnic groups of the state will be preserved.

The chairman however urged the people of the state to turn out enmasse at every stages of the event as they will be thrilled to the best performances by contingents to the CARNIRIV.
