Bishop Urges Exemplary Lifestyle
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Dr Francis Okobo, has advised newly ordained deacons of the church to practice what they preached to the people.
He gave the advice in Nsukka last Saturday at the ordination of 16 deacons at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Nsukka.
He said that it is by reading and preaching the word of God that they would win more souls to Christ.
“Ensure that you practise what you teach the people so as to show good example to them.
“Remember that God is always watching what you do both in secret and in public,” he said Okobo also urged the deacons to submit themselves to the authority of the church while discharging their duties.
“Always preach the word of God as well as respect the authority of the church.
“The church will not tolerate any form of indiscipline and disobedience,” he warned.
The Bishop urged catholic faithful as well as relations of the new deacons to always pray for them so that the holy sprit would strengthen them in their spiritual life.
The Vicar-General of the diocese, Monsignor Taddus Onoyima, urged the new deacons to refrain from anything that would tarnish the image of the church.
“If you submit yourself completely to God, He will guide you while working in His vineyard,” he said.
