Bayelsa Crash: Amaechi Denies No Confidence Vote On Panel

Chairman of Governors’ Forum, Rotimi Amaechi, last Friday in Abuja said the forum never passed a vote of no confidence on the panel investigating the Bayelsa Naval Helicopter crash.

It will be recalled that former Governor of Kaduna State, Mr Patrick Yakowa, former National Security Adviser, retired Gen. Andrew Azazi, and four others died in the crash.

However, fielding questions from State House correspondents, Gov. Amaechi said that the request by the Governors to be included in the investigation of the crash was not because they had no confidence in the investigation process.

“No, no, no, we are being misunderstood all the time. What we said was that we wanted to be given an observer status if we can’t participate so that we will bring a professional who will observe the process of what is going on and brief the Governors’ Forum.

“Not that we had a vote of no confidence in our system.”

Amaechi also frowned at the assertion that the Governors picked special interest in the helicopter crash because one of them was affected.

“No, no, not that, not that, we felt that too many crashes have occurred in Nigeria and that it is proper that the Governors have a professional advice so that we can know what contribution we can make to the Federal Government.

“Not because our colleague was involved, after all, the general who died was not our colleague.”

The remains of Yakowa were committed to mother earth at his country home Fadan Kagoma in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State last Thursday.
