Air Assault Club Commits To Golf Promotion

Air Assault Golf Club, Port Harcourt has promoted the game of golf in Rivers State.

The secretary of the club, Mr Loveday Demua made the assertion during the tee-off ceremony of the club’s silver jubilee tournament held at the club at the weekend.

Mr. Demua said that there was need to sensitize people of the sate on golf so that the state would continue to develop and maintain top position as a golfing state.

According to him, as part of effort to encourage the game, the club recently converted seven caddies to members of the club so that they could fill in the gap as most members are ageing.

He said that they were undergoing serious training in preparation for the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival (NSF) in Calabar, Cross Rivers State in 2014.

Mr Demua, who is also the secretary of Rivers State Amateur Golf Association stated that golf develops players physically and mentally, stressing that efforts should be geared towards promoting the game.

The secretary said they are making efforts to key into school sports inn order to identify and groom young talents.
