Wonwu Cup Kicks Off In Elele

The town of Elele in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, will be agog this Sunday as Sharp Arrows FC and Super Rivers FC file out to do battle in the opening game of the annual Wonwu Football Cup competition.

Already, the supporters of both teams have started talking tough ahead of the opening match given their confrontations in the past.

The encounter will not fail to live up to its high profile due to the quality of players that would be on parade.

A chat with the co-ordinator of the competition, Mr Joeman Allen reveals that necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure a smooth kick-off of the competition.

He, however, enjoined lovers of grassroots football to come out in their numbers to grace the opening match which promises to be very thrilling.

A total of eight teams, Super Rivers, Sharp Arrows, Diplomatic Young Stars, Great Stars of CAC, Net Bombers, Agafe United, Lunchers FC and Great PH FC registered for this year’s competition.

Meanwhile, the cup donor, Chief Isaac Wonwu has advised all the participating teams to see discipline as their watch word.
