The Lagos State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has said it would along with other colleagues, give the forthcoming 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) maximum coverage..
The association’s chairman, Fred Edoreh made the remark in an interview in Lagos.
Edoreh stressed that SWAN would also deploy its expertise to the successful hosting of the monumental sports fiesta.
According to him, the association is planning to hold a seminar for sports journalists, in order to update their knowledge and equip them for the coverage of the festival.
He said that the journalists would be updated on the topic: “Mastering and effective use of new media’’ and “Perspective of multi sport reporting’’ which would be an added advantage.
“The Lagos SWAN is planning big for the sports festival to ensure that the festival is given the best coverage as the state is hosting.
“We are also seeking for funds to organise a workshop, to ensure that our personnel are kept abreast with the current trends in the coverage of events of the magnitude of NSF,’’he said.
Edoreh also said that the new ultra-modern SWAN secretariat equipped with Internet facilities would also be used as sub-media centre for journalists to send their report during the sports festival.
The SWAN boss said that a committee had been set up to organise “SWAN Night’’ to entertain journalists and expose them to the ambience and hospitality of the state.
“We will organise SWAN Night to ensure that sports journalists from outside Lagos are treated fine for them to enjoy their stay in the state,’’ he said.
Edoreh noted that no fewer than 400 journalists had been accredited to cover the sports festival scheduled for November 27 to December 9 in Lagos.
