President’s Aide Tasks RTEAN On Peaceful Co-Existence
The Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, has called on the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) to foster peaceful coexistence to forestall crisis.
Gulak made the call in Abuja when a delegation of RTEAN paid him a courtesy visit to seek ways of proffering solutions and getting assistance from the Presidency to enhance internal security of its members.
Our correspondent reports that a faction of the RTEAN broke away in 2007, thereby constituting problems, aggravating crisis and violating rules and regulations of the association.
Gulak promised to mediate in the dispute of the two factions as soon as possible in order to resolve the matter and promote peace and harmony.
He said the association would not receive any benefit until the factions came together and worked in harmony for the development of the nation.
Earlier, Chief Abubakar Sadiq, National President, RTEAN, stressed the need for a lasting solution to the internal crisis, especially given the current critical situation in the country.
Sadiq called for a quick intervention and the allocation of 300 buses to the association under the Federal Government’s palliative to the organised private sector.
“The buses are yet to be released to us by Urban Development Bank in conjunction with the Ministries of Labour and Productivity and Trade and Investment.
“This aggravated the crisis that led to the breakdown of law and order at the RTEAN secretariat in Ogun, Lagos, Gombe and Kaduna states,’’ he said.
Sadiq also appealed to the Federal Government to assist in the sponsorship of its proposed security workshop to sensitise its members on how to curb security challenges in the country
