Obi Presents Cars To Permanent Secretaries
Governor Peter Obi of Anambra yesteday in Awka, presented 21 new Nissan saloon cars to Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service, to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.
Obi said that permanent secretaries as the engine of the civil service, deserved to be properly equipped to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
He said that was the reason his administration from its inception, initiated the tradition of giving permanent secretaries vehicles, a gesture which future administrations in the state should not reverse.
The governor stated that government would also provide car loans to directors and deputy directors and other forms of support in the civil service.
Obi explained that proper empowerment of workers would promote productivity and reduce corruption in the system.
In his remarks, the state Head of Service, Mr Chidi Ezeoke, thanked the governor for the gesture and gave the assurance that the officials would continue to serve the state loyally.
Ezeoke observed that the governor had set a standard for bright prospect for every body in line with his efforts to sustain the state’s status as a pacesetter in the country.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Austine Naalue, described the presentation as a morale-booster and source of motivation for greater productivity.
