NEMA Donates Materials To Ebonyi Flood Victims

As
part of measures to ameliorate their sufferings, the National Emergency
Management Agency (NEMA), has presented relief materials valued millions of
naira to affected victims of Ebonyi state flood disaster.

Handing over
the items to the  displaced persons
through the state Governor, Martins Elechi, Director- General of NEMA, Alhaji
Mohammed Sani Sidi , who was represented on the occasion by the South East
zonal coordinator of the Agency, Dr. Onimode Abdullahi Bandele, urged those
charged with the responsibility of distributing the materials to do so with
utmost sincerity.

The ceremony
which attracted top government functionaries in the state was also graced by
officials of Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency, chairmen/coordinators of
the affected Local Government/Development Centers.

In his
remarks at the event, Dr. Bandele, noted that NEMA has provided relief
materials worth millions of naira to victims since the unset of unfortunate
floods that affected most areas in the zone, saying the gesture was in
fulfillment of the Federal Government efforts towards cushioning the effect of
the unfortunate incidences on the affected/displaced persons through the Agency
after rapid assessment of affected communities.

He added that the administration of President Goodluck
Jonathan shared in their plight and had commensurated with them on the
devastating disaster.

Responding, governor Elechi expressed the appreciation of the
Government and people of the state to the Federal Government on the gesture,
especially its unrelenting effort in assisting the State in tackling
disaster/problems in the State.

Executive Secretary, Ebonyi State Emergency Management
Agency, Elder Igboke Umunna in his speech had also praised the efforts of NEMA,
which he said, “cannot be quantified”.

The affected Local Government Areas that benefited from the
relief materials are Afikpo North, Ikwo, Izzi, Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo.
