Jigawa Distributes 60 Phones To SERVICOM Desk Officers
The Jigawa Government on Tuesday distributed 60 GSM phones to SERVICOM Desk Officers to enhance their operations in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Lawan Abdu, who distributed the phones in Dutse on Tuesday, said the gesture was to enhance value addition in the public service.
He said that SERVICOM desk offices were established in hospitals, boarding schools, zonal education and water supply offices across the state.
Abdu said the ministries of Health, Education and Water Resources were designated as pilot project for the scheme.
“SERVICOM desk offices are set up to receive complaints from the public and refer same to the relevant authorities.
“This is to make MDAs more focused and to enable senior civil servants provide the necessary leadership in service delivery to promote discipline in line with the civil service rules.”
In his remarks, Dr Magaji Mahmud, a member of the SERVICOM steering committee, said the the committee had placed complaints and suggestion boxes in hospitals and schools across the state.
“We also make available to the public names and GSM phone numbers of SERVICOM desk officers.”
The Tide reports that Jigawa Government introduced SERVICOM in its public service in 2008 to enhance service delivery.
