COSON Plans Music Foundation
The Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), on Monday said it was making arrangements to launch a music foundation to assist indigent musicians in distress.
This is contained in a statement signed by Miss Mayree Uket, the Senior Executive, New Media, COSON, and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
According to the statement, the music foundation will be a depository of funds to assist indigent musicians in distress and will be formally launched on May 22, 2013 in Lagos.
The statement said the foundation would also provide funding for music education and training for young musicians.
“It will deliver insurance schemes to assist musicians in their time of need and provide robust intervention in the battle against piracy,” the statement added.
It said that the launch would be the highlight of the COSON Week which would also include its first Song Awards.
The statement also quoted, Mr Tony Okoroji, chairman of the society, as calling on all Nigerians to partner with COSON and be a part of the project.
