Comedy, Viable Industry In Nigeria – Klint Da Drunk
Popular Nigerian comedian, Afamefuna Clint Igwemba aka Klint Da Drunk has disclosed that comedy was no longer a hobby or passion, but had become a viable industry in Nigeria.
The Anambra State born humour merchant who performed recently at Smart Don Stand Up Port Harcourt Show, held at the Artruim Event Centre, stadium Road Port Harcourt, said in the past, comedy was not a lucrative venture but over the years, it had metamorphosed to a viable industry in the country.
He disclosed that though he studied Fine and Applied Arts in school, he opted for comedy, because it afforded him the opportunity to make people happy and laugh over their problems.
He noted that apart from giving people joy and relaxed mind, comedy brought him to the limelight as a star.
‘Da Drunk’ comedian claimed that he was the only comedian in Nigeria who cracked his jokes in pure English .
According to him, he detests vulgar jokes rather he liked to use what was around him to crack jokes and make people happy.
On why he always acted drunk on stage, the award winning acc comedian said “I don’t take alcoholic drinks,” but he loved to act drunk for people to understand how they behaved each time they got drunk particularly how they made mockery of themselves.
Klint Da Drink who had performed severally in Port Harcourt including Night of Thousand Laughs and other big shows, said over the years, Port Harcourt had remained the centre of entertainment, show business and hospitality that was why every entertainer wanted to come and perform in the city.
He stressed that people here were fun loving and appreciated the good things of life. This was why most entertainers see the garden city as their second home.
