Chevron Donates Relief Materials To Flood Victims
The Chevron / NNPC Joint Venture, has donated some relief materials to ameliorate the plight of flood victims in Rivers State.
Presenting the relief materials to the Flood Relief Committee at Government House, Port Harcourt, the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) Co-ordinator, Eastern Operation, Chevron, Tom Akagboso said the gesture was in line with Chevron policy of sustainable community development.
The GMoU Coordinator also pledged a collaborative relationship with the State government especially in the rehabilitation of the displaced flood victims.
In line with this objective, he said the Chevron / NNPC Joint Venture has contributed N50 million to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist in the rehabilitation of the flood victims.
Receiving the relief materials on behalf of the Flood Relief Committee, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Engr Tele Ikuru thanked the management of Chevron over the gesture and assured that the relief materials will get to the affected victims.
The Deputy Governor, also called on other corporate organisations to borrow a cue from Chevron by coming to the aid of the flood victim. The materials donated, include, bags of rice, beans, garri, yam, beverages, milk, salt and sugar.
