Chevron Donates N50m Hospital Equipment To Kula
The Chevron / NNPC Joint Venture has donated hospital equipment worth N50m to Kula community in response to the cholera outbreak experience in the area recently.
Chairman of the Kula Regional Development Council, RDC, Hon. Stanley Benibo disclosed this during the Annual General Meeting of the RDC at Kula, while handing over the equipments to the Community Development Council of the community. The RDC chairman thanked the management of Chevron over the gesture and assured that the facilities will be judiciously used for the benefit of the community.
In his remark, the General Manager, Policy Government and Public Affairs PGPA, Chevron, Deji Haastrup commended Kula community for successfully holding its second annual general meeting, and assured the commitment of the company to the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU), process. He expressed satisfaction over the commitment of the Kula RDC toward the implementation of the GMoU process, which he described as a veritable platform towards sustainable development within communities neighbouring its clusters of operation. The General Manager also commended the GMoU partners, such as the Rivers State Government, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Asari Tori Local Government Area, among others for their unwavering support.
Also speaking, chairman of the occasion, and Amanyanabo of Opukula, King Hope Dan Opusinji, tasked the people of Kula to maintain the peace process in the area, and stressed that no meaningful development can take place in an environment of acrimony and rancour. He called on the Kula RDC to maintain the virtues of accountability and transparency to bring lasting peace and development in the area.
A newly installed electricity power generator produced by the Kula RDC was also commissioned during the ceremony.
