Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Fred Igwe has charged members of Team Rivers to stay focused and committed to a successful defence of the number one position at the 18th National Sports Festival, ‘EKO 2012’.

Hon Igwe who stated this in a chat with sports journalist, said as defending champions, all eyes will be on them in Lagos hence the need to stay focused.

He added that Team Rivers athletes and officials are well motivated by the  Governor Chibuike Amaechi-led administration to deliver in EKO 2012.

Team Rivers will participate in 23 events at the sports fiesta billed to begine from 27th November to 9th December, 2012.

In a related development, the commissioner, has said that Rivers State clubside, Dolphins can return to the top of Nigerian football if they put behind what happened last season.

Igwe said that he has always known Dolphins to be an ambitious club and that the current personnel have it all in their hands to sit up.

“Dolphins is a champions club and they had not reason to be out of the top 4 last season. But we know these things happen in football that one season you can win the league and the other you can be relegated.

“We also know that there are two trophies to play for this season and hopefully, either the League or FA Cup will come to Dolphins,” Igwe said.
