Team Total Wins Oil and Gas Golf Tourney
Team Total has emerged winner of this years Oil and Gas Golf
Championship with a total gross score of 338 points.
The championship, which took place at Air Assault Golf
Course, Port Harcourt at the weekend saw the champions dusting other opponents
in an impressive fashion.
Team Mobil finished as runner-up while Sunday Aje grabbed
the top prize in the industrial category.
Speaking during the prize presentation ceremony at the club,
the chairman of Oil and Gas Trade Group of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce,
Mines and Agriculture (PHACCIMA), Chief Francklin Gbupo thanked all the golfers
and multi-national companies who deemed it necessary to participate in the
championship.
Chief Gbupo said the championship which would be an annual
event and it would be sustained in subsequent years by the chamber in order to
encourage competitive golf among
multi-national companies operating in the country.
Speaking, a co-organiser, of the tournament, Mr. Emmanuel
Bako expressed satisfaction with the turn-out of golfers and also lauded the
sponsors who made it possible for the championship to a huge success.
He assured golfers and participants in the tournament that
the next edition of the tournament would surpass the just concluded tourney.
Also speaking, the Captain of Air Assault Golf Club, Chief
Martins Okonkwo gave kudos to the organisating committee of the competition for
a job well done and urged them tp keep up the spirit.
Chief Okonkwo said the championship was worthwhile in
fostering the relationship existing between the multi-national companies and
the country especially in the Niger Delta region.
Collins Barasimeye
