Sharks Mgt In Hide-And-Seek Over New Crew

Speculation surrounding the appointment of a new Technical Adviser (TA) and coaching crew for Sharks FC of Port Harcourt may soon be laid to rest as the club’s management said at the weekend that the new coaches would be unveiled next week.

Following the poor performance of the club last season, the management had hinted at making sweeping changes at the club ahead of the new season. The club had announced the suspension of the coaches before the end of the last season.

However, the hide-and-seek game over whether a new TA has been engaged and his identity has continued as the General Manager of the club, Chief Okey Kpalukwu refused to disclose the identity or admit that a new man has been recruited.

But the rumour mills have it that former Super Eagles and Enyimba International Coach, Austine Eguavoen has been signed on as the new TA to be assisted by a new indigenous coach, who has coached both of the state-owned clubs, Dolphins and Sharks, before.

Speaking to Tidesports in an interview at the weekend, Kpalukwu asked for patience until the club is ready to unveil the crew officially.

According to him, the club is working out modalities to ensure that the team performs impressively in 2012/2013 football season.

“The management will soon come up with a blue-print on how the club would achieve its set objectives in the coming seasons,” Chief Kpalukwu said.

The General Manager revealed that to enable the team have good results next season, the club will drop some players and sign new ones that will beef-up the team.

“It is sure that the club will drop some players and sign new ones. This is to ensure that the club achieves its set aims and objectives,” he stated.
