Chairman of the Technical Committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Christopher Green has expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the recently concluded 2012 edition of Rivers State Governor’s Cup Football competition in Port Harcourt.

Green, who is also chairman of the Rivers State Football Association stated this during the final match of the tournament and urged the organisers to sustain the tempo in subsequent editions.

He called on other companies in the state to emulate the gesture by sponsoring any sport of their choice, that any money spent on sports is not lost, but well spent as it would help keep the youth busy and away from social vices.

Earlier, Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Matiu Sunmonu, represented by General Manager Human Resources,  of the company, Charles Gbandi expressed hope that players from the competition would become part of Nigeria junior national teams.

“I believe that the NFF member, Green, will do his best in urging the handlers of the Junior National    teams to equally visit Port Harcourt  during their recruitment drive in order to discover talents at the grassroots” Gbandi said .

He continued that since it is part of the SPDC Corporate social responsibility in trying to build national cohesion, he assured that next year’s edition would be more glamorous and that prize monies would be reviewed upwards to encourage participation in the competition.
