RATTAWU Sets For Election In Rivers
The chairman Radio, Television and Theatre Workers Union
(RATTAWU) Rivers State Council, Comrade Isaac Esuku has expressed sadness over
the recent crisis in the State Administrative Council (SAC) of the union in the
state.
He stated that the present SAC has always been transparent
in all ramifications, because that is one of the qualities of a good leader.
Comrade Esuku, stated thus while inaugurating Five -Man
Electoral Committee (ELECO) that would conduct the forth-coming elections of
the union, during next month’s Triennial Delegates Conference of the union.
According to him, the Eleco members were carefully selected
from the five chapters of the state council, saying that he has confidence in
the caliber of persons nominated.
“Honestly, I want to say that I am not really happy with
recent developments in the union, let us work in harmony to move the union
forward”, he said.
He said “this present administration has always been
transparent, because I believe that is the best form of leadership, besides,
the caliber of persons nominated are capable to deliver”, Esuku said.
The chairman confirmed that the national and zonal
headquarters of the union were duly informed about the inauguration, adding
that the task ahead of the Eleco is enormous and urged them to conduct a
credible elections without bias and sentiments.
In his response the chairman of the Eleco, Comrade Yibari
Micah pledged that the committee would not fail the union in any way.
According to him, he would resign his appointment if he
perceived any pressure from any quarters.
“The Eleco will not be answerable to Comrade Isaac Esuku,
but will be answerable to the SAC. I believe that we will not disappoint the
union, but I would not want any pressure from anybody, if I perceive that I
will resign,” Comrade Micah said.
The Eleco chairman appeal for the support of the SAC to
enable the committee function effectively and efficiently.
