OCCIMA Gets New Exco

Dr Tim Anosike has been elected President of the Onitsha
Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

The election was held at the end of the 25th Annual General
Meeting and Conference of the chamber in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Anosike was the immediate second Deputy President of the
organisation.

Other officials elected are Mr Uche Apakama, first Deputy
President; Mr Donatus Ebubeogu, second Deputy President; Mr Okechukwu Anene,
Vice-President (Public Relations) and Chief Kevin Obieri, Vice-President
(Finance).

The rest are Sir Chris Ukachukwu, Vice-President
(Membership); Mr Odikpo Anyadufu, Vice-President (Administration) and Chief
Patrick Okeke, Legal Adviser while Chief A.I. Ibeme; Sir Nathan Ofoma and Lady
Ada Dozzy were elected as council members.

In his acceptance speech, Anosike pledged to carry all
members along and move the chamber to greater heights.

“I thank God for making it possible, and I feel happy for
the confidence my people in the chamber reposed on me.

“As the chief servant, I am asking God for grace and wisdom
to pilot the affairs of the chamber.

“I am also appealing to all businessmen and businesswomen as
well as big and small entrepreneurs to come and register with the chamber since
there are benefits for us when we work together.

“And in working together, we can move the economy of Onitsha
and by extension the South-East forward,’’ he said.

He commended the Federal Government for the inauguration of
the Onitsha River Port and the dredging of the Lower River Niger.

“I want to thank Governor Peter Obi for his developmental
strides in Anambra State and appeal to him to work closely with the chamber for
the over-all benefit of our people, majority of whom are businessmen,’’ he
stressed.

The Tide reports that Anosike would take-over from Mr
Okechukwu Akaneme, who had piloted the affairs of the chamber in the last five
years.
