The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives and the Forum For Local Government Nurses and Midwives (FOLGONM) in Rivers State have dismissed a media report (not The Tide) that one  of her members died in a sex spree in Etche Local Government Area with a commercial motorcyclist.

The chairperson for the Forum for Local  Government  Nurses and Midwives (FOLGONM), Rivers  chapter, Mrs Agatha Choko dismissed the speculation in an interview in Port Harcourt, explained that the news report was false, misleading  and provocative.

Mrs Choko explained that the lady involved was not a nurse, she said that the incident  occurred in Igbodo in Etche Local Government Area and not Akwuanu as stated by the publication.

According to her, the lady simply identified  as Rose was not a nurse and had never passed any form of examination to qualify her as a nurse.

“The publication which was made on October 5, 2012 was targeted to tarnish  the image and reputation of nurses  in Rivers State as the Association demand an apology from the newspaper”.

“The reporter also  refused  to gather his information correctly before going to the press”, she said.

Mrs Choko who also works in Etche Local Government Area explained  that nursing profession is a noble one that is valued and respected worldwide.

It would be recalled  that one of the national dailies reported that a 38-year-old man, Eze and his lover simply identified as  Rose were found dead in a one room apartment in Etche after a sex spree. The lady according  to the publication was said to be a divorcee and staff nurse and registered member of the National Association of Nurses and Midwives in Rivers State. The Union therefore debunked the report, saying she was not their member and had never been a nurse.
