Monarch Urges Youth To Embrace Computer Education

The Osana of Keana, Nasarawa State, Chief Emmanuel Elayo, on Thursday called on the youth to embrace computer education for the development of the state and the country at large.

The traditional ruler made the call at the graduation of pioneer students of Royal Missionary Computer Institute, Keana.

Elayo said the role of computer education in the development of the country could not be over emphasised.

The Osana said that by embracing computer, the youth would be in a better position to contribute their quota to the development of the country and face global challenges.

“You cannot be a lecturer, Journalist, Banker, an Engineer, Analyst and work in other professions without being computer literate.”

Elayo called on parents to sponsor their children to acquire knowledge in computer, assuring that such knowledge would help them not only for now, but also for their future endeavours.

He enjoined the graduands to make use of the knowledge gained during the training for self development and the larger society.

The Osana commended the officials of the institute for choosing Keana as a centre of the programme in the state.

Earlier the, Director of the institute, Mrs.Jummai Kata, said the programme was aimed at educating “everyone” in the state to be computer literate and to demonstrate the importance of computer literracy.

The director lauded the Osana for been instrumental to the establishment of the institute in Keana and providing the office for its operations.

Kata said the organisation planned to introduce free medical services, quarterly, for people living with different ailments in Keana Local Government Area.

Mr Ibrahim Otaki, the Chairman of the council, pledged the readiness of the council to support the institute “at all time”, for the progress of the state and the country in general.

He reiterated his commitment to ‘‘make sure that everybody in the area is computer literate before 2020.”

Otaki also called on the graduands to use the knowledge for the benefit of the state.

The occasion featured presentation of certificates to the graduands, among other highlights.
