Ministry, Jigawa Radio To Patner On Farming
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said that it would partner with the Jigawa Radio Corporation to sensitise farmers on its rice production programme.
The Director of Information in the ministry, Alhaji Salisu Na’inna, said this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of the Jigawa Broadcasting Corporation, Alhaji Sabo Guri, in Dutse.
Na’ínna said that the ministry would work with the corporation to educate farmers on the new Federal Government’s policy on rice production and other programmes designed to encourage agricultural activity in the country.
He said that such working cooperation was imperative to ensure proper education of farmers to be able to access programmes initiated by the Federal Government to accelerate rice production in the state.
Na’inna said he was in the state to have discuss with officials of the state Ministry of Agriculture on how to encourage rice production.
“Jigawa is a leading state in the area of agriculture and rice production.
“The Federal Government has mapped out strategies to boost rice production in the country,” Na’inna said.
In a remark, Guri, reiterated the commitment of the corporation toward enhancing farmer education in the state.
He said that the radio station would provide free air time to the ministry to educate farming communities in the state on its activities.
