The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Corps Commander, Command and Strategy, Mr Albert Moore, has called on the Federal Government to legalise the ban on night travelling.

Moore made the call last Wednesday in Osogbo in a lecture he delivered at the 2nd edition of the Zonal Head of Operations Conference which had as theme: ‘Reinforcing Operational Strategies for Excellence.’’

He said that most accidents on roads occur at night, making rescue operation difficult.

Moore said that reports from cities like Abuja had shown that night travelling, clubbing and over speeding were some of the major causes of road crashes.

In his remarks, the FRSC Zonal Command Officer, Mr Lucas Kinya, said the commission was intensifying efforts to reduce road crashes by putting in place 24 hours standby patrol unit on major roads across the country.

He said the conference would explore ways through which the commission could respond promptly to victims of road accident.

Kinya said the conference would also look into ways in which the commission could sustain public enlightenment and create good relation with motorists in order to reduce road crashes.

More than 100 FRSC officials from Osun, Oyo and Ondo sectors attended the conference.
