IAUE Student Wins Elechi Amadi’s Maiden Award
A final year NCE Student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Martins Samuel Erem has won Elechi Amadi’s Maiden Literary Prize Award.
The Department of English/French student with Matriculation Number UE/NCE/2009/028 received the award, September 29, 2012 at the Silverbird Cinema, Port Harcourt.
The student, who took part in the literary contest which started in June 2012, was given Elechi Amadi;s Estrangement.
He had been given Stanley Edokpolos, “The True Nigerian Child” to read and write on the topic “Women and Social Change in Modern Africa.”
Erem wrote the paper and after a series of screenings, emerged the winner of the contest.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of IAUE, Professor Rosemund Dienye Green-Osahogulu while receiving notification of the award from the Acting Dean of Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Kingdom Orji, commended the student for making IAUE proud, describing the award an eloquent testimony of the fact that IAUE products stand out anywhere in the world.
It would be recalled that an IAUE graduate from the Faculty of Votech in Agricultural Science Department, Miss Albert Oshinemen Ndu with Matriculation Number 2003/B.ED4/14719 been declared Best Female Corper by National Council for Women Societies in Community Development Service on December 6, 2010. The Youngwoman is also a recipient of the 2010 NYSC President’s Honours Award.
