Delta Plans N140m Football House
Nigeria Football Federal (NFF) President, Aminu Maigari,
yesterday laid the foundation stone for the Delta State Football House in
Asaba, the capital of Delta State.
Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Amaju
Pinnick, said that the project, which will gulp about N140 million, will be
constructed entirely with funds from the private sector.
“We are building the Football House with the sum of N140
million and all the money will be sourced entirely from the private sector. We
are not going to take any money from the Government.
“I am doing this as one of the legacies to leave behind when
I finish my term as Chairman of Delta State Football Association,” said
Pinnick.
Maigari lauded the effort by the Delta State Football
Association: “This is a wonderful journey they have started, and should ginger
other State FAs to also embark on project and programmes that will revitalize Nigeria
football.”
The edifice is named after the late Patrick Okpomo, a
three-time Secretary General of then Nigeria Football Association who also
worked in various capacities for the Confederation of African Football.
