Corps Member Harps On Benefits Of Exercise

Asari Toru Local Government Area, Asalga and the Senior Sports Director,
Kalabari National College, KNC, Buguma in Rivers State, Mr. Ali Emmanuel has
called on both the aged and youth to engage in regular exercises.

Ali, who is part of the batch C of the 2011 corps members
described exercise as part of physical activities that concern the movement of
the various parts of the body.

According to him, the activities serve as lubricating tools
to the joints and create the environment for the improvement of body
metabolism.

He stated that regular exercises enable one to stay healthy,
stronger physically and mentally.

The corps member who doubles as the coach of kalabari
National College ball teams, football, basketball, volleyball and tennis stated
other benefits of exercise to include the enhancement of fitness, prevention of
debilitating diseases and regulation of blood pressure.

It also helps to
maintain healthy physical  outlook,
improvement of cardiovascular endurance of an individual and management of stress
and psychological problems.

Ali, who is a graduate of Ebonyi State University, Aba-
Kaliki, in Human Kinetics Education, helped revive the comatose sports teams in
KNC and set them up to competitive standard. He will be completing his national
service programme this week.

He called on all and sundry to pay attention to exercises as
a way of life and recommended the following activities to all. Sit-Up-Exercise,
to improve abdominal muscle strength and easy digestion, Step-Bench-Exercise,
to improve cardiovascular muscle strength, Trunk-Curl-Exercise, to improve
lower rectus abdominal muscle strength and weight control, Run-And-Walk
Exercise, to improve muscle strength of various parts of the body,
lower-And-Upper back Exercise, to improve strength of back muscle and aids
weight control and Gripping-Ball –Exercise, to build up strength of hand
muscles.
