Board Urges Good Relationship Among Principals, Vice
Principals and Vice Principals of Secondary Schools in Rivers have been urged to maintain a harmonious working relationship to promote academic and administrative excellence among schools in the state.
The Board member in-charge of supervision at the Rivers State Post-Primary Schools Board, Dr Akikibofori Jacob gave the advice during an interactive meeting of the Board’s supervision Department with Principals, Vice Principals and zonal directors in the state.
The board member frowned at the incessant disagreement among principals and vice principals of secondary schools, and called for proper devolution of administrative duties to check the ugly trend.
He noted that such conflict in the interpretation of duties was a disincentive to academic excellence as it leads to laxity among the school administrators.
Dr Akikibofori, who called on principals to report disloyal vice principals to the board, also cautioned against the collection of illegal fees in secondary schools, noting that such actions will attract stiff disciplinary measure.
He called on the school administrators to exert vigilance over the activities of youth corpers serving in their various schools to ensure that they are committed to their primary assignment, and asked vice principals (Administration) to be in-charge of youth corpers.
In her remarks, the President of ANCOPSS, Dr Fubara, pointed out that most youth corpers sent to schools had nothing to offer in terms of academic duties.
