Beach Eagles Get Set For Dubai Tourny
The Beach Eagles team that would represent the country at the forthcoming Samsung Beach Football Tournament in Dubai in November has commenced preparations for the event at Badagry.
The team’s coach, Audu Adamu, told newsmen last week that it would use the Samsung Tournament as a rehearsal for the Copa Lagos tournament slated for December.
“The Beach Eagles will be participating in a tournament organised by Samsung in Dubai and it will also help us to sharpen our team for the upcoming Copa Lagos tournament in December.
“We know that it is not going to be easy because we are in a tough group. Our group consists of Brazil, Japan and Switzerland.
“We see this as a good challenge and we are up to the task. We will try all our possible best to top the group and win the tournament,’’ Adamu said.
The coach stressed that the Beach Eagles were the only African team to beat Brazil and that gives the team extra motivation to repeat it again.
“We are the only African team to have beaten Brazil and this serves as an extra motivation for us to go further.
“We have never played Japan before, but we have studied them. We learnt that they are very fast but we have put in measures and tactics to stop them.
“I can guarantee you that we will not let Nigeria down because we are going to make our country proud,’’the coach said.
Meanwhile, Olawale Isiaka, Captain of the Beach Eagles, assured Nigerians that the team was well prepared and poised to come out on top.
“We have trained well and we are prepared for the challenges we are going to face.
“It is a tough group but I believe that we will prevail and make sure we bring the cup back to Nigeria, ’’the captain of the Beach Eagles said.
