The Nigerian Army, 2 Brigade Headquarters Sector 2 Joint Task Force code-named Operation Pulo Shield, has denied media reports that soldiers have been deployed to Aluu Community following the killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt, recently.

In a press release titled “Re-Murder of Uniport Students: Soldiers Take Over Community” signed by the Army Public relations Officer, major M.O. Etete the JTF described the report as untrue and misguided,  and added that the security situation in Aluu community had not called for military deployment.

The statement, however, stated that the Army headquarters was monitoring the situation through a constant touch with the Rivers State Police command which according to him, has deployed its officers to maintain peace and protect law abiding citizens in the affected community.

The statement further advised the general public to disregard the news reports and go about their normal duties and urged journalists to always confirm information concerning army activities from the 2 brigade public Relations Office before going to press.
