Anambra Reports 120 Fire Threats

The Anambra Fire Service says it curtailed 120 fire between
January and September 2012 in Nnewi, Ekwulobia, Onitsha and Awka, where
property worth more than N500 millions were destroyed.

Mr Innocent Adike, the state Fire Service Director,
disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Awka.

Adike explained that most of the fire disasters occurred in
residential and office buildings, where household and office equipment were
destroyed.

Some of the items destroyed included: refrigerators,
computers, generator, musical appliances, air conditioners, among others,” he
said.

He expressed happiness that no life was lost while all the
buildings were salvaged.

Adike attributed the development to the timely intervention
of the firemen coupled with availability of modern fire fighting equipment.
