Mutiu Adepoju has resigned his position as Club Manager of
Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC of Ibadan.

The former Nigerian international tendered his resignation
which was accepted by the management of the club on Wednesday.

There is yet no official reason as to what may have prompted
the resignation, but Adepoju said that he had to resign for personal reasons.

Adepoju who was nicknamed ‘Headmaster’ during his playing
days because of his knack for scoring with his head disclosed that he had to
travel to Spain, where his family is based – to undergo a two-week UEFA Pro
Licence coaching course.

Some observers close to the club have however faulted his
fractured relationship with the Club’s Board of Directors as a reason for the
resignation.

Adepoju first joined 3SC as its General Manager, but was demoted
to the position of Club manager upon the inauguration of the current board.

He was recently asked to re-apply for his job and wait in
line along with other fresh applicants for consideration, and this apparently
did not go down well with the 1994 Nations Cup winner, who saw the situation as
insulting and unappreciative of years of service to the club.
