Taskforce Destroys Illegal Refineries In B-Dere
The Rivers State Petroleum Products Monitoring Taskforce says it has destroyed two illegal refineries in B-Dere in Gokana Local Government Area of the state.
The chairman of the taskforce, Gogo Fiberesima said the two illegal refineries situated in a forest were discovered by the taskforce based on information from members of the public.
“The situation we find in B-Dere is not acceptable to the government and the people of Rivers State. We will not allow that and we will pursue the situation vigorously. We have 23 hours surveillance on them,” he said.
Also speaking, the vice chairman of the Petroleum Products Monitoring Taskforce, Mr Oduah appealed to members of the public to desist from patronising illegal oil bunkerers.
“Those who patronize these chaps should desist form that because if we lay our hands on anybody, if we catch anybody buying the product, we are going to arrest the person, we are going to prosecute them the law must take its course, so we advise the general public to stop patronizing these people.
What they are doing is illegal and it’s bad,” Odual said.
