CAF Champions League title holders, Esperance of Tunisia has signed Izu Azuka from Sunshine Stars.

The Super Eagles forward did not return to Nigeria with the rest of his team-mates following their 1-0 defeat to the Tunisians in their last group game of the CAF Champions League, as he stayed back to negotiate a transfer to the African champions, who were impressed with his overall performance in the competition.

According to reports from Tunis, Azuka has now signed a three and half year deal with Esperance, which will take effect in December after the Champions League would have been concluded.

The move has however cost Azuka his place in the Super Eagles, as his prolonged stay in Tunisia prevented him from making a return to the Super Eagles camp in Abuja for the first leg qualifier against Liberia.

The player who has previously starred for JS Kabylie of Algeria as well as Libya’s Al-Ittihad Tripoli recently turned down a move to Turkish lower division club Adana Demispor, with the latter resorting to sign Kano Pillars Gambo Mohammed instead.
