S’Africa’s Amajita Set For Flying Eagles
South Africa’s Amajita head coach,
Solly Luvhengo has named a 22-man squad to play against Nigeria’s Flying Eagles
in the African Youth Championship qualifier at the Mbombela Stadium today.
As part of their preparations for
this huge task, Amajita played and defeated Botswana in two international
friendly matches, scoring eight goals without conceding.
Luvhengo is confident of beating
the Nigerians, saying: “We need the same kind of commitment, focus and passion
as shown in the matches against Congo and Botswana. If we can manage to
maintain this consistency, then we are destined for greatness.”
But Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh
has said that his team must get a good result in order to finish off the job at
home in the return leg. According to him, the Flying Eagles cannot afford not
to qualify for the AYC, proper.
Amajita qualified for this round on
the away goals rule after beating DR Congo 1-0 at Milpark Stadium last month to
make the score 2-2 on aggregate after losing 2-1 in the first leg.
The African Under-20 Championship
finals are set to take place in Algeria in March 2013, and will also serve as a
qualifier for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup which takes place in the same year in
Turkey.
