The proprietor of Rivers Boys Soccer Academy, Coach Blessing Ogbondah, has said that in ten years’ time, players from his academy would dominate football in Nigeria, particularly, in Rivers State.

Coach Ogbondah made the assertion in an interview with Tidesports, at the weekend, in Port Harcourt.

According to him, two of his academy players, Uchenna Kenneth and Rabiu Adam were selected at the just concluded Under 13 Aspire national screening exercise held in Lagos. He said that four of them were selected initially, but two eventually made the final list.

“I am believing that in ten years to come, my boys will dominate football in this country, most especially in Rivers State,” Ogbondah said.

He explained that the boys have confidence in themselves, are determined and agreed to take football as career. They have also demonstrated football talent in the field of play.

Coach Ogbondah stated that the academy has been in existence for eight years now and currently has 30 players.

He expressed optimism that the two players selected would finally make the list to Qatar, later this year.

“I am happy that four of my players were selected, even though they have dropped two, by the grace of God, the chosen duo will make the final list for Qatar,” he stated.

He used the forum to appeal to the state government to assist the academy financially to enable the academy achieve its aims and objectives, saying that if government sponsor grassroots football in the state, the state would unearth abundant talented footballers in no distant time.
