Provision of Houses, Govt Priority – Wada

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State says that provision of houses for civil servants and low income earners is one of the priorities of his administration.

Wada stated this while inspecting work at the site of the 350 Felele Housing Units being constructed by the Kogi Investment and property Ltd in Lokoja.

Represented by his deputy, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi, the governor described shelter as a baic need for man and assured that mass hosing scheme would be provided across the state.

He said the state government was ready to provide basic amenities such as roads, water and electricity as required by the Federal Mortgage bank of Nigeria, a co-financier of the project.

Wada charged contractors of the housing units to work with indigenous contractors and urged them to display excellence and quality work.

The governor commended the kogi state Investment and properties ltd for the judicious utilization of the funds provided for the project.

Wada promised that the state government would give the needed support for early completion of the project.

Mrs Maryam Alhassan, the supervising architect of the project, said the 350 housing units were built on 89 hectares of land and were made up of one, two and three bedroom flats.

She said the houses, on completion, would be sold to civil servants who were contribtutors to the National Housing Scheme.
