The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Mr Adisa Bolanta,
said in Owerri that investigation into the murder of the former CBN Director,
Chief Charles Nwosu, was in progress.

Addressing his maiden news conference, Bolanta called on people
with useful information about the murder to come forward.

Nwosu was killed by unknown gunmen recently in Owerri.

The commissioner also decried the abduction of the Permanent
Secretary in the office of the Deputy Governor, Mr Emenike Ihekwoaba in Mbano
on the same day.

“I urge the people to come forward and report any suspicious
characters to the police so that we can get them before they strike.

“That way we can avert crime and save the cost of going
after these criminals when the crime has been committed,” he stressed.

The commissioner pledged to curtail crime to the barest
minimum in the state, saying that his mission was “to build on the existing
structure” and enhance security.

“We, the police, have been given all we need to do a good
job of providing a secure environment for the citizens of this state,” he said.

“However, security is a collective effort and we need the
cooperation of the people to carry out our duties effectively,” the
commissioner added.
