Pillars Demand League’s Prize Money

The newly crowned Nigeria Premier League champions, Kano Pillars FC has asked for their winners’ prize money from the Nigeria Premier League Board, NPL.

The northern club is sad that the NPL has kept silent over the prize money and has asked the league board when they would get their prize for winning the 2011/2012 league season.

Media officer of the club, Idris Meikawa said in an interview with newsmen that was not proper for the board to keep silent on the issue considering what clubs passed through to prosecute the season.

‘Nobody from the NPL board said anything about how much they will pay the club for their effort.

It is not proper that after a hectic season, the club will not get anything from the organizers of the league”, Maikawa said.

He continued that the  club management could not understand why NPL would just give them a trophy and feel less concerned about the prize money.

‘I will not believe that there is no money to give to the winners of the league. If at the end of the season, there is nothing to show for the efforts of those that won the trophy, then there is no need to play the league”, he said.
